Alumni Achievement Award

The Alumni Achievement Award honors an outstanding baccalaureate graduate who exhibits leadership, good scholastic standing and involvement in the community.  This award has been awarded each year since 2010.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2017 Alumni Achievement Award Recipient: Alexis Gagliardotto

Ms. Gagliardotto will receive her B.A.S. degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics and currently has a 4.0 G.P.A.

She is the president of the SPC Orthotic and Prosthetic Student Society and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa as well as the Golden Key International Honor Society. Ms. Gagliardotto also was St. Petersburg College’s Honors College Ambassador for the Tarpon Springs campus and Early College Club Historian.

Ms. Gagliardotto received the Tarpon Springs Early College Program Academic Excellence Award and the Tarpon Springs Campus Academic Excellence in the Face of Adversity Award. She also won first place in the Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation’s Feet First Contest.

An active volunteer, Ms. Gagliardotto was a camp counselor at the Paddy Rossbach Amputee Coalition Youth Camp, a Quantum Leap Farm and Suncoast Hospice volunteer. She also assists during practice for the Tampa Bay Generals Wheelchair Rugby team.

SPC Early College Program Academic Counselor, Alice M. Hall said: “Alexis is an inspiration in her chosen field of study and reflects the absolute best of St. Petersburg College. She is one of the most intelligent, gifted and genuine students I have had the pleasure to work woth in my 36 years as an educator/counselor.”

Ms. Gagliardotto’s goal is to earn her M.S. degree in Engineering Management with a concentration in Orthotics and Prosthetics at Florida International University. She wants to become a Certified Mastectomy Fitter while obtaining her degree. After graduate school, Ms. Gagliardotto plans to train to become a Certified Clinical Anaplastologist and then go on to pursue a Ph.D. in applied physiology or rehabilitation science.

“My SPC professors wanted to see me succeed. In an environment like that, where intelligent people are encouraging you to seek knowledge and understanding, it is nearly impossible to not become full of hope. When you find a place that fills you with hope, you wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am proud to represent everything that SPC stands for. SPC has been the training ground where I discovered my purpose in life and built the foundation of my career. Upon that foundation, I will continue to construct my future.”

Applicants must have:

  • Graduate from SPC in July or December of 2017, or May of 2018
    Minimum GPA of 3.50
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Been involved in college activities
  • Participated in community service
  • Must have attended SPC for all 4 years of their college career. Transfer students are not eligible.
