Duke Energy Provides Scholarships for Veterans
The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded the St. Petersburg College Foundation $7,500 for its Veterans Bridge Fund initiative.
Duke, through its “Victories for Veterans” program and in partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays, is awarding over $90,000 to
veteran-related charities in Pinellas and Pasco counties. The funding represents $1,000 for every Rays win this season.
“Serving our communities is an integral part of Duke Energy’s culture and we are especially honored to help support our veterans
through employee volunteer events, by actively hiring veterans — we employ nearly 2,000 veterans at Duke Energy — and through initiatives like this,” said Alex Glenn, State President of Duke Energy — Florida. “The organizations that are benefiting from the
‘Victories for Veterans’ program offer invaluable services to local veterans and we are proud to invest in them.”
Student veterans, including SPC’s Student Veteran Association President Brittany Achor
attended the Rays’ last home game to accept the check and thank Duke Energy.
