In Memory of Mark W. Mazurek

Karen and Bill Mazurek established an endowed scholarship on May 19 in loving memory of their son Mark, who passed away on June 6, 2017. Mark attended St. Petersburg College and recently graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies.

His ambition was to attend law school and become a Lawyer. Mark truly loved the SPC experience along with the professional staff of educators that always challenged and motivated him during his educational journey. Throughout his life Mark experienced numerous hardships and medical challenges resulting from a brain tumor twice removed at the age of eleven. Against all odds, Mark persevered with a positive, caring outlook. He gravitated toward helping the underdog, stood up for victims of bullying and uplifted spirits with a helping hand, a smile or a corny joke.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to help a Paralegal Studies student offset some of the costs of attending SPC. In a small way, Mark’s contagiously positive spirit and loving memory will always remain part of the College for years to come as this memorial scholarship continues to lend a helping hand to students in need.
